The Winter Olympics gold medal standings were dramatically shaken overnight! The United States surged to second place, Italy moved up to third, and China slipped to only 14th.
As of February 12th Beijing time, the fifth day of competition at the Milan Winter Olympics concluded, with eight gold medals awarded that day swept up by a few countries. This caused a major shift in the medal rankings. Besides Norway maintaining its firm grip on first place, many countries saw changes in their positions, especially the United States, France, and Italy, each winning two golds that day and rising to second, third, and sixth place respectively!
